JKE win 3yr sub-contract on the M1
The CCJV (Carillion/Costain JV) have awarded JKE a 3yr sub-contract to look after a busy section of the M1 between Junction 10 (Luton) and 13 (Bedford). This 15 mile section is having improvment works done to enable the use of the hard shoulder during times of heavy traffic. The contract is 24hrs a day 365 days a year. This type of work suits the JKE set up as we provide similar emergency response to Thames Water, Anglian Water, Severn Trent Water and the Environment Agency plus many others.

Peter Maasz (Sales Director) said. " These contracts are very important to us as they strengthen our abilty to invest into providing faster and a better response". We are very proud of our ability to respond in emergency situations and we are ideally located to look after this section of the M1".

Transport Minister, Andrew Adonis, said: "On the M1 in Bedfordshire, hard shoulder running will deliver improvements more quickly than motorway widening - helping tackle the congestion problems we have now - and it is better value for money."

JKE win prestigious digester cleaning contract
Interserve Plc Have awarded JKE a sub-contract to empty and clean four digesters at Riverside STW Thames Water site. These digesters have been out of service for many years and still contain approx 10,000m3 of waste. JKE proposed to remove and then screen the waste which will reduce the waste off site to as little as 10% of the original volume. The program is expected to last 7-8 weeks and will involve almost 20 staff including speacial operations teams, rescue teams and confined space entry crews. The works are part of a £60m project to carry out the construction of the Riverside Sludge Digestion Plant in Rainham. Interserve will construct a new Thermal Hydrolysis Plant, refit digestion equipment and undertake alterations and extensions in order to meet the new Tideway Operating Agreement consent for client Thames Water Utilities Ltd. In addition to handling sludge generated at the Riverside sewage treatment works (STW) the plant will also take material from the nearby Beckton STW.
